Saft SAS has gone live with sofco Supply Planning at their first two sites, nine months after selecting sofco to power their Planning Project – This is how they did it…
Saft specialises in advanced technology battery solutions for industry, from the design and development to the production, customisation and service provision. For 100 years, Saft’s longer-lasting batteries and systems have provided critical safety applications, back-up power and propulsion for their customers.
Saft’s innovative, safe and reliable technology delivers high performance on land, at sea, in the air and in space. Saft is powering industry and smarter cities, while providing critical back-up functionality in remote and harsh environments from the Arctic Circle to the Sahara Desert.
Saft is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Total, a leading international oil and gas company and a major player in low-carbon energies.
The Challenge
Saft were looking for a system to accurately plan and resource production and supply capabilities across differing market sectors which included having detailed operational plans at production resource level giving Saft a Sales & Operations Planning overview at a strategic level.
Why sofco?
The purpose of the Project is to implement a Finite Capacity Planning and ATP/CTP systems in the Saft Batteries Poitiers and Bordeaux Sites followed by Demand Planning. Subsequently there will be a roll out to 12 sites over a 3-year period. Saft chose sofco because of the capability and flexibility of the solution to support the business process and evolving requirements.
The Solution
Saft selected: sofco Demand Planning, sofco Supply Planning; Available to Promise (ATP); Capable to Promise (CTP) and WIP Management. After going live, the system handles over 29,000 active products, 187,000 Bills of Material Items and 138 separate manufacturing processes covering both make to stock and make to order modes.
sofco Supply Planning gives Saft an in-depth Sales and Operational overview detailing capacity utilisation, Available to Promise (ATP) and Capable to Promise (CTP), along with a detailed Production Plan based on capacity and material availability across multiple manufacturing divisions. Since going live Saft now have accurate and achievable planning with targeted reductions in inventory and Work in Progress (WIP).
